The term ‘due diligence’ has become associated with company takeovers but is actually related to any process which requires a comprehensive examination of the relevant facts. It could, as easily, be applied to a crime investigation and is similar in priciple to an audit. What it means is that those undertaking the exercise shall apply thenselves with ‘due diligence’ to the task at hand.
The diagrams shown in the attached pdf show the relevant aspects of DD as it should be applied to processes in the water industry. Whilst the detail may differ, the principles may be applied to any investigative process.
